The
AVVUS - Manufacture Horlogére Dresden
offers a wrist watch made at our manufacture
with a swiss made precision continental chronometer movement by:
Hahn - Landeron
System Glashutte
by Charles Hahn & Cie Frères - Landeron
Movement No. 518590
The technical Features of the High Grade Movement:
The movement is a high grade 17-jewels precision continental chronometer.
The movement has a crown winding. For this purpose we have chosen a pumpkin shaped crown which matches exactly to the overall appearance of the watch.
The hands set is operated by a setting lever in the movement, which function is activated by a pusher.
The winding wheels are mounted clearly visible on the barrel plate. They will be locked with the help of a screwed and highly polished steel click spring.
A technical refinement is the Maltese (Geneva) stopwork which limits the tension of the mainspring so it would operate only in the range where its elastic force is nearly linear.
Although not visible under the winding wheel, the main barrel is provided with a screw fitted chaton. That is a real technical refinement and is very rare in those type of movements.
To enhance the power coming through the train, the center wheel is provided with a chaton jewel, which is mounted in massive rose gold and is screwed threefold. Only jewel bearings minimize reliably the friction due to enormous driving power of the mainspring and consequently of the the going barrel. The screwed chatons allows the precise adjustment of the wheel and quick change of the bearing jewel if necessary.
The third wheel and the second wheel are also furnished with a screw-fitted rose gold chaton.
Very beautiful is the screw fitted and jeweled end piece for the escape wheel, typically for a System Glashutte movement. This end piece is polished and 24 carat (!!!) rose gold plated.
14 jewels are bearing and protecting all wheel arbors of the movement. The two pallets of the pallet fork and the ruby ellipse of the roller are also jeweled.
Therefore this high grade movement is jeweled with 17 rubies, taken all jewels together.
The impressive large bimetallic balance wheel with regulation and compensation screws takes nearly the half of the diameter of the movement. Such large balance wheel is an attribute of a lever chronometer. The timing screws are made of massive rose gold; the Brequet overcoil balance spring is blued.
For adjusting the Brequet balance spring of the balance wheel the balance wheel bar is furnished with a Howard type precision regulator ("swan neck" type precision regulator). It is high glossy polished by hand like all other steel parts.
The bars and bridges are 24 carat gold plated. They were already in a good condition, but now, after cleaning, they appear in a nice frosted finish.
The train is also gold plated; the winding wheels are decorated with a snailed (sunburst) pattern.
The flats and beveled edges of all steel parts are polished and underline the outstanding high standard of the movement. All movement side screws, and other steel parts are polished by hand. The steel parts are polished with diamantine on a zinc plate or with 3M diamond finishing film.
Within the service, all necessary pivots were also polished; the watch has been adjusted and runs now with good amplitude for over 40 hours per full winding.
The Dial:
The splendid white single sunk enamel dial is the original dial which belongs to that movement. It was professionally cleaned and shines now in an elegant pure white. The hour and the second register are furnished with arabic numerals. Together it contrasts fabulous with the enamel surface. The plain case matches very well with this elaborate and elegant dial.
The Hands:
The blued pears and lances styled hands are completing the wonderful appearance of this watch and are glowing blue on the pure white enameled dial.
The Case and the Crown:
The massive and top quality three-part case of stainless steel was fitted especially for this movement. It was adjusted precisely to the movement, so that we were able to leave out a movement holding ring.
The case is designed as a three-part classical case!
That means, the case consists of a snap-on bezel with a mirror (reflector), the middle part and the snap-on bottom bezel. Its also furnished with a large window and with a mirror (reflector).
Through this 3-part
construction the movement could be fixed with case screws, like it was made by the original pocket watch cases. The movement will be brought in the case from above and fixed from the back with the case screws.
Both bezels are sealed with rubber gaskets.
The fixing holes for the strap spring bar are drilled from inside the case lugs. Therefore they are not visible from outside.
The very hard used parts, the crown, the pusher and the case tubes, are plated with Rhodium. Rhodium is one of the hardest and most expensive metals of the world.
The stainless steel case is polished by hand to a mirror finish.
The glazed bezel on the back of the case enables the view into the impressing movement.
The flank of the case body is signed with our signature "Avvus - M.H. Dresden". This is the short signature for our brand name "AVVUS - Manufacture Horlogére Dresden.
Between the bottom lugs is engraved the Avvus watch code "P1-ER-MK No. 518590" .
This signature is registered by us, and displays this watch not only as a distinctively unique, but also identifies this watch as yours.
The Strap:
The 20 mm lug to lug width is probably the only harmonic option for a 48 mm case. Of cause it is possible to buy readymade 20 mm straps, but they are mostly of a very simple quality. Due to fact that they are too thin for a thick case, they leave a bad impression.
Therefore we let produce our straps, individually for every single case, from the top grade manufacturer Rios1931 - Germany.
It is made of finest leather of the flank of the alligator; completely made by hand in Germany.
It is from the "Art Manuell" manufacturing line and arises in more than 175 manufacturing operations.
Over the length the strap tapers from 20 mm to 18 mm and is continually decreases in thickness. Therefore the band has an adequate thickness at the case side of 6 mm and a flexible thin end of 3 mm at the buckle side. So the strap has to be wedge-shaped. And this you obtain through the complex lamination of the strap.
The different layers of the strap are stitched together with a fine quilting seam, tone-in-tone with the colour of the leather.
The massive buckle is made of stainless steel and is signed with our manufacturer logo "Avvus"
The Watch Box:
We deliver your watch in a luxury and fine elaborated Madagascar vein veneered watch box. The colour of lining is cream. These watch box will be certainly the depository of your precious watch.
